The Rector of Thrace University Prof. Dobri Yarkov participated in an academic delegation in the capital of Morocco - Rabat, which will open an Information Center for higher education in Bulgaria in Morocco.

he delegation includes: Krasimir Valchev - chairman of the Committee on Education and Science at the National Assembly, Lyubomir Yosifov - director of the "Legal" Directorate at the Ministry of Education, Prof. Georgi Valchev - rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Prof. Hristo Bozov - Rector of Burgas University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov", members of rector's, dean's and director's managements of Technical University - Sofia, National Sports Academy, Medical University - Plovdiv, University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy.

he delegation met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Vocational Training in Morocco, Mohamed Khalfaoui, where the two sides were able to exchange ideas, contacts and identify main goals to pursue. The meeting was also attended by the directors of the departments of the Moroccan Ministry, who explained to the Bulgarian side basic data and priorities for Morocco related to higher education in the country.

"I am glad to welcome an academic delegation from Bulgaria. Our goal is to build even more fruitful relations, to create connections between the two countries, because we all have our priorities in the field of internationalization of higher education. We wish to exchange experience and students, which is already somewhat launched under the Erasmus+ program, but we would be happy to significantly increase the number within the framework of bilateral cooperation. I am sure that the opening of the Information Center for Higher Education in Bulgaria in Morocco will help for this purpose. I wish you a wonderful and fruitful year 2024!" - this was stated by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Mohamed Khalfawi, in his greeting to the academic delegation from Bulgaria.

The rector of Thrace University Prof. Yarkov thanked the ministries of both countries for the organization and the opportunity for cooperation that will be given with the opening of the Information Center for Higher Education in Bulgaria in Morocco: "It is a privilege for me to attend this meeting. I see that we speak the same language because education and science are already global. I have no doubt that we will make a very good transfer in terms of students, PhD students and research projects. What we are doing today is an investment in the future, because education and science create the first bridges in the relationship between two countries, and I am convinced that business projects, transfer of technology, transfer of innovations will start on these bridges and we will open wide the doors between Bulgaria and Morocco."

The meeting was attended by the ambassador of Bulgaria in Morocco, H.E. Plamen Tsolov and the consul Maria Donevska.

The information center for higher education in Bulgaria in Morocco will be opened on January 10 at 6 p.m. in the capital Rabat by Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel and Minister of Culture Krastyu Krastev.
