The application documents that the non-EU applicants should submit are the following:

IMPORTANT! The documents are submitted as follows: 1 original set of the documents and scanned copies of all the documents to one of the following email addresses: stefka.mihova@trakia-uni.bg OR violeta.koleva@trakia-uni.bg

  1. An Application form, signed by the candidate. It is available on our website.

  2. A Certificate issued by any of the Regional Departments of Education in Bulgaria which recognizes the applicant's secondary education from abroad. The Certificate must contain the marks on the subjects that are required for the assessment of the candidate (the required subjects are specific for each major and you can see them in the Table of the required marks below). .

    Important! The required marks should be at least 62 % of the possible maximum of the grading system in the respective country. (The 62% rule is applicable only to the non-EU candidates – it is an obligatory rule for getting visa type "D"). This means that the average of the required marks in the Certificate issued by the Regional Department must be at least 3.72. 

  3. A copy of ID – passport.

  4. 4 photos.

  5. An application fee.

The mark in Bulgarian language from the Language Certificate, issued by Trakia university or any other university in Bulgaria (if the candidate chooses to study in Bulgarian and passes a preparatory course in Bulgarian language). The mark in Bulgarian language might be also the mark from a Certificate for Bulgarian language for level B2.

The deadlines for submitting the papers for the 2024/2025 academic year:

Start date submitting the papers is the 01 of April 2024.

The deadline for the applicants who wish to attend the English programs (this is applicable to the specialties “Medicine” and “Veterinary medicine”, that are taught in English) is the 1st of July 2024.

The deadline for the applicants who wish to attend the preparatory course in Bulgarian language and to continue their studies in Bulgarian language is the 1st of August 2024.

Where and how to submit the application documents?

The papers are presented in one of the following ways:

  • Personally in the Admission Office of the Study Department of Trakia university, room 13, Rectorate, Students’ town, Stara Zagora

In case the applicant chooses to study the desired major in Bulgarian, he / she should attend a preparatory 10-month course. In this case the application fee is the BGN equivalence of 70 euro (137.00 leva).

In case the applicant chooses to study the desired major in English (this is applicable to the majors that are offered in English – “Medicine” and “Veterinary medicine”), the application fee is 70 euro for each exam. How to pay the application fee?

The application fees are paid in one of the following ways:

  • in the pay desk of the University when submitting the application papers – only in BGN (Bulgarian leva)

  • Through a bank transfer to the following bank account:

It is obligatory for the applicants to write their names in the reference field.

Visa D procedure

All non-EU applicants must have visa typep "D". The procedure of getting visa type "D" takes at least 2 months and it consists of the following activities: As soon as the applicant’s papers are submitted in the university they are sent to the Ministry of education and science.

The Ministry issues a Certificate stating that the candidate is accepted in Trakia university. Also, the Certificate states the specialty, the duration of the tuition and the tuition fee. The Certificate is sent to the candidate who must submit it in the Bulgarian diplomatic mission of the respective country. The applicant receives the visa from the above stated diplomatic mission and is free to come to Bulgaria and to enroll in the university. 

The final assessment depends on the particular case of each applicant:

  1. In case the applicant chooses to study the desired major in Bulgarian language, he / she should attend a preparatory 10-month course in Trakia university. In this case the enrollment is ex officio (only based on the documents) without ranking. - the applicant is enrolled without ranking;

issued by Trakia university or any other Bulgarian university, he / she participates in the assessment process and enrolls in the chosen specialty. - the applicant is enrolled in his/her chosen major;

In case the applicant chooses to study the desired major in English (this is applicable to nthe majors that are offered in English – “Medicine” and “Veterinary medicine”) Trakia university organizes on-line entrance exams in three sessions as follows: –

First session:

JUNE 8, 2024 – exam in English (for all the applicants who come from a country where English is not an official language)

JUNE 9, 2024 – exam in Biology (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Veterinary medicine and Medicine) and exam in Chemistry (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Medicine)

Second session:

JULY 27, 2024 – exam in English (for all the applicants who come from a country where English is not an official language)

JULY 28, 2024 – exam in Biology (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Veterinary medicine and Medicine) and exam in Chemistry (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Medicine)

Third session:

AUGUST 24, 2024 – exam in English (for all the applicants who come from a country where English is not an official language)

 AUGUST 25, 2024 – exam in Biology (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Veterinary medicine and Medicine) and exam in Chemistry (for all the candidates who apply for the English programs of Medicine)

You may sit for all the exams (in all the three sessions) and we shall take your highest results to form your final assessment. You may find sample tests in Biology and Chemistry on our website.

The first ranking will be announced on the 28th of AUGUST 2024 and it will be according to the following table:

The first ranking will be announced on 28 August 2024.

Important! In case that we still have vacant places after the enrollment procedure, Trakia university will announce the second ranking or will organize one more exam session.

Enrollment procedure:

The enrollment procedure starts on the 29th of August and the deadline for the students' registration is the 6th of September. The enrollment procedure takes place in the respective faculty. So, please, be prepared to pay the first installment of your tuition fee (the tuition fee for the first semester). Please refer to the links “Tuition fees and Bank accounts” and “Enrollment”.
