It was established in 2001, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the introduction of higher agricultural education in Bulgaria (1921). The aim is to preserve the history of its establishment and development. The passage through the years of the past gives the opportunity to meet different generations of scientists who have given creative strength and skills to raise the level of higher agricultural education in Bulgaria, in different stages from its establishment to the present day.
The Horse and Equestrian Museum has almost half a century of history. It was opened on March 6, 1971. at the Higher Agricultural Institute - Sofia by General Vladimir Stoychev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. The founder of the museum is Prof. Rangel Karaivanov. Stara Zagora after the relocation of the Faculty of Zootechnics.
The museum collection was created by Dr. Todor Stamatov - a longtime historian of the veterinary profession. It was officially opened on June 12, 1978 in the city of Varna.
The ANATOMICAL MUSEUM of the Department of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology was restored in 2001. In 2019, the museum was renovated and relocated to an approximate area of 250 m2 on the territory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Thracian University.
