Description
The zoo engineer plans, organizes and manages the processes of sustainable development in the production of animal products to achieve high productivity, product quality, technologies guaranteeing the health status and welfare of animals, consistent with the protection of ecosystems and climate change. The knowledge and skills of zoo engineers with a bachelor's degree guarantee their professional skills to: organize and manage systems for efficient production of various types of animal products, feed and feed mixtures, as well as to perform their qualification and standardization; organize the breeding activity and the reproductive process for the preservation and improvement of the gene pool in animal husbandry; ensure full realization of the genetic potential of the kept animals under constant and optimal conditions, satisfying their biological requirements and sparing the environment; have the competence to keep game, fur animals, pets, ornamental birds, fish and beneficial insects; perform technological design in the reconstruction of existing or construction of new livestock farms, know and operate agricultural machinery; organize and carry out the production of quality animal raw materials for processing; introduce good production practices and participate in the management of food safety and quality systems; organize and carry out complete feeding of farm animals to ensure high productivity, health and quality of products; carry out marketing activities to study the needs of the market for animal products, feed, livestock and breeding animals and to organize activities to meet them.
Realization
Graduates of this specialty can organize and manage livestock farms and perform organizational, operational, consulting and more. activities related to production, processing, qualification and sale of animal products, in enterprises of the livestock industry, feed industry, breeding associations and artificial insemination stations, public administration, zoos, companies, livestock associations, scientific and educational institutions, public organizations and other enterprises producing and providing goods and services for the agrarian business.

Exam and application fees
Application fees for the academic year 2024/2025.
За първи изпит/тест таксата за кандидатстване е 60 лв. За всеки следващ изпит/тест е 55 лв.
The competition fee is waived for:
a/ persons with permanent disabilities and reduced working capacity of 70 per cent or more - certified by a decision of the TELK;
b/ round orphans up to the age of 25 years in the year of application - evidenced by the death certificates of the parents and the identity card of the prospective student.
c/ persons who, at the time of reaching the age of majority, are subject to a protection measure under the Child Protection Act - placement in a foster family, a residential social service or a specialized institution - certified by an official note from the respective home;
d/ war invalids and war victims;
e/ mothers (fathers) with three or more children - children's birth certificates and parent's ID card must be presented.
Twins pay half the fee when they both apply to TRU - birth certificates must be presented.
