At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the TRAKIA UNIVERSITY, clinical studies of a new molecule developed by the Bulgarian scientist Philip Fratev, to create the first non-generic drug for the treatment of aggressive cancer with metastases in pets, have begun. The initial results of the application of this molecule in mice are extremely encouraging. On the 32nd day, in the control group of rodents suffering from mammary gland cancer, bone and liver metastases completely disappeared, single tumor cells were found in the white.

The ambition of the Rector Assoc. Dr. Dobri Yarkov is to create the first oral medicine for the treatment of dogs and cats with the created team of scientists from the various clinical disciplines of the Navy and in cooperation with the company "Mikar 21" . This will be an extraordinary breakthrough in veterinary medicine and the basis for drug development and for the treatment of cancer in humans.

Philip Fratev is a chemist and astronomer, head of the Star Society Observatory, discoverer and godfather of many asteroids, named after Bulgarian revolutionaries, kings and writers. In recent years, his scientific research has been related to the discovery of new medicinal molecules for the treatment of cancer, Covid 19 and some rare diseases. In addition to world-famous laboratories, companies and universities, the scientist with roots in Sopot and relatives, prototypes of the novel "Under the Yoke", also works with well-developed, innovative secondary schools such as the Professional High School for Agricultural Mechanization "P.K. Yavorov" - city ​​of Gotse Delchev.
