Trakia University opens a faculty of digital and green technologies – a new step towards the future

The Council of Ministers has approved the establishment of the Faculty of Digital and Green Technologies at Trakia University – Stara Zagora. The decision was taken at the proposal of the university and is motivated by the growing need for specialists in the fields of information and green technologies at both national and regional levels. According to the government, the initiative corresponds to global trends in digitalization and the adoption of clean technologies. The future graduates are expected to be sought after by local businesses, municipal and regional administrations, non-governmental organizations, as well as by the students themselves who have shown interest in fields such as Informatics and Computer Science and Energy.

The new faculty will offer degree programs in the field of informatics and computer science, including Software Engineering, Information Technologies, and Cybersecurity and E-Governance. At the same time, the curricula will also cover energy-related specialties such as Sustainable and Green Energy, Thermal Energy and Environmental Technologies and Systems, Smart and Green Energy Systems, and Energy Conversion Technologies and Systems. The programs will be available in both full-time and part-time modes of study, leading to the degrees of Bachelor and Master.

The project has been approved by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency, which confirms the quality of the education and its compliance with the national standards for higher education.

The establishment of the Faculty of Digital and Green Technologies will strengthen the role of Trakia University as a center for training specialists who meet the modern requirements of the labor market. In this way, the university will contribute to the development of the regional economy and administration by educating professionals in strategic areas such as digitalization and green technologies.
