China is offering 31 scholarships for Bulgarian citizens to study and specialize at universities in the People’s Republic of China, according to information from the Embassy of China in Bulgaria, received through the Ministry of Education and Science. The scholarships are provided under the Agreement on Educational Cooperation between the two countries and apply to the 2026/2027 academic year.

The scholarships are available to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as to postgraduate trainees and specialists.

Candidates approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria must submit their online applications through the China Scholarship Council (CSC) system at: https://www.campuschina.org/ no later than 20 February 2026.

Starting this year, applicants for bachelor’s degree programs in China are required to take the CSCA – Chinese Study Competence Assessment (an academic readiness exam for international students) before applying, and to submit an official CSCA Score Report together with their application documents.

The Chinese Embassy has announced that two examination sessions are scheduled for applicants intending to begin their studies in September 2026: 21 December 2025 and 25 January 2026.

The Chinese side will cover the tuition fees, accommodation and medical insurance of the scholarship recipients, while international travel expenses are to be covered by the applicants themselves.
