Cynthia Hristova - a student of medicine at Thrace University - Stara Zagora, is among the five first-place winners in the national essay competition on the topic "Freedom to treat and the right to be treated". The competition for the "Alexander Darvodelsky" prize is organized by the Center for the Protection of Rights in Health Care (CHRC) and its start was announced on April 7 - World Health Day. A total of 59 medical students from all over the country took part in the competition, and a competent jury awarded the 5 best works of future doctors. At an official ceremony in Sofia this weekend, the winners of the contest were announced, who received special certificates and checks worth BGN 1,000 from the organizers.
The graduate of Thrace University - Synthia Hristova - a fifth-year student majoring in Medicine, was among the leaders in the competition. Cynthia is from Sliven, but chose to complete her higher education in Stara Zagora. In her essay, she tells her personal story, which clearly impressed the jury. "When you're waiting outside the operating room to find out what the patient's condition is inside, time seems to stand still. But when you are on the other side treating a doctor, everything is a moment... I shared these emotions and thoughts of mine in my work and I am glad that I have touched the readers. Cynthia plans to specialize in dermatology and does not exclude the possibility of gaining experience abroad, but she definitely plans to stay permanently in Bulgaria and follow her professional path in her homeland.
