THRACIAN UNIVERSITY - WITH PARTICIPATION IN THE "EUROPE OF THE BALKANS: COMMON FUTURE" CONFERENCE "About BGN 43 million are the funds attracted for European projects by Thrace University since 2020" - said Associate Professor Dr. Emil Slavov, Deputy Rector for Project Activities, during the local conference on the "Europe in the Balkans" project : Total future", which took place today in the press club of BTA - Stara Zagora. During the event, which was also attended by the regional governor of Stara Zagora Region - Iva Radeva, the deputy mayor of Stara Zagora Municipality - Radostin Tanev, as well as Radka Tileva - manager of the Regional Information Center in Stara Zagora, the results were presented of the implemented projects in the Stara Zagorje region under various operational programs of the European Union for the program period 2014-2021, as well as the set priorities for the current program period 2021-2027.

Prof. Slavov emphasized that Thrace University - as one of the country's leading educational institutions, tries to use the opportunities provided by European project financing in two main directions - development of the educational infrastructure and investment in people, in the development of the human factor. The goal is to attract more and more young people to Stara Zagora, who will choose our city and our region as an attractive place to live and pursue a career. Regarding the future plans of the university, Assoc. Prof. Slavov shared that there are several main perspectives for the Stara Zagora University of Higher Education - on the one hand, it is the development of digitalization in the various spheres of the economy, because the future lies in the acquisition of digital competences. It is for this reason that Thrace University took the first steps to open a new faculty of digital and green technologies. In parallel with this, the ambition of the Stara Zagora University is to become a "green university" - for this purpose, a large-scale activity of building photovoltaic installations on all buildings of the university, as well as other ambitious "green" projects, is ahead. Last but not least, Prof. Slavov recalled that Thrace University is the coordinator of the large-scale project "ZAHIR" to create the first hydrogen valley in Bulgaria.
